Recreation Center
Summer swimming fun is
right around the corner with the pool at Harvey Park scheduled to open on
Monday, June 2. The first swimming registration is scheduled for Friday,
June 6 at 5:30 at the recreation center. Swimming lessons will begin the
following Monday, June 9. Swimming lessons are scheduled in two week
sessions with four sessions scheduled through the summer. Lessons will be
held Monday through Thursday in one half hour classes with classes beginning
at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 and 11:30. Registration dates for the following three
sessions are June 20, July 3 and July 18, with classes beginning the
following Monday.
The center also offers a
variety of other activities for summer fun. Sports teams begin at 5-6 with a
co-ed t-ball program and include coach pitch for youth 7-8-9. The oldest
youth teams are the 13-14 boys baseball team and the 13-14 girls softball
team. Other summer youth activities include two martial arts classes
(Tuesday & Thursday or Saturday), pottery, ceramics, crazy crafts, weaving
snack attack, Friday features and bingo. A free fishing derby (in
partnership with Wal-Mart) is also scheduled at Barnum Lake on Saturday, May

includes this information. The center is located at 2120 S. Tennyson Way, in
Harvey Park.
