Spotlight on Zoning Issues...

The Spotlight on Zoning Issues page features a variety of changing topics having to do with common zoning questions that may be of interest to residents of the Harvey Park community.  Neighborhood Inspection Services will be presenting the topics each month in layman's terms to help us all understand the otherwise complex ordinances that pertain to common zoning issues and questions.

Harvey Park Recreation Center

Summer swimming fun is right around the corner with the pool at Harvey Park scheduled to open on Monday, June 2. The first swimming registration is scheduled for Friday, June 6 at 5:30 at the recreation center. Swimming lessons will begin the following Monday, June 9. Swimming lessons are scheduled in two week sessions with four sessions scheduled through the summer. Lessons will be held Monday through Thursday in one half hour classes with classes beginning at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 and 11:30. Registration dates for the following three sessions are June 20, July 3 and July 18, with classes beginning the following Monday.

The center also offers a variety of other activities for summer fun. Sports teams begin at 5-6 with a co-ed t-ball program and include coach pitch for youth 7-8-9. The oldest youth teams are the 13-14 boys baseball team and the 13-14 girls softball team. Other summer youth activities include two martial arts classes (Tuesday & Thursday or Saturday), pottery, ceramics, crazy crafts, weaving snack attack, Friday features and bingo. A free fishing derby (in partnership with Wal-Mart) is also scheduled at Barnum Lake on Saturday, May 31. Call the center at 303-937-4650 for dates, fees and information on these classes. You can also stop by the center and pick up a brochure that includes this information. The center is located at 2120 S. Tennyson Way, in Harvey Park.
 

Bear Valley Library

AARP Driver Safety Class
This class is open to drivers of all ages! Those 55 and older that successfully complete this two-day course receive a discount on auto insurance. The cost of the course is $10. Please call (303) 935-0616 to register.
